Call for Papers
Theme: "Languages and Cultures of Sudan"



We have long explored much of identity, war and peace in previous meetings. This year’s theme will help us examine linguistic and cultural continuity and change in the very diverse Sudan. Papers will be especially welcomed on topics such as: language extinction, language diversity; language identity; Arabic as a lingua franca; “Juba Arabic: language status issues; endangered languages, language of instruction, popular discourse, current linguistic research, neologisms, folklore and sayings, literature, poetry, linguistic standardization, ancient languages, language policy in the south, and status of English. As always, papers on other topics such as history, politics, development, education, human rights etc. will be considered.

            Registration payment MUST be received with your paper abstract.  It will be returned if you paper is not accepted, but it will NOT be returned for reasons of “no show.”
